Default Alternative ways to promote and market a successful website

Hi there,
Billie again, I don't intend to spam, I'm just desperate for help.

Say when my website is ready, what is the single best way for me to market and promote it on the web, without a lot of money and yet, still be able to get a good exposure?

I heard about affiliate marketing and such, yet to try it out but why do I need to share my sales with my affiliates, I would like to keep 100% profits, so, instead of that, are there any other ways to do it?

I'd appreciate any good resources, or information deemed trustable, not affiliate links please, I'm not so much of an affiliate program person, I believe if you wanna get things done, you gotta do it yourself, affiliate programs are for people who are chasing dreams of being rich without putting much effort into it, I don't quite believe in that.

Hey Billie,

Well, I wouldn’t say it’s the single best way to market your site, but I still find word of mouth to be a reliable way to get the word out about my sites.

I usually send out a “site opening” email to a few of my friends and ask them to pass the link on to anyone they think may be interested in what I’m offering on the site. It doesn’t always generate a lot of interest, but I figure every little bit helps.

ETA: One other thing I make sure to do is add a link to my site(s) to the signature of all my outgoing emails. That way anyone I email will have the link and so will anyone they forward it to.

Hi, I think there are many more ways to promote a newly bult website.

Affiliates are surely believed to be an important weapon to promote a website.

But, if you are not in Affiliates, there are many methods of promotiong.

First of all you should make your website a known face on the internet.It is very much important.If people sees your website number of times there will be some popularity of your website. in future, that can help you to sell your product.

A very simple yet effective method is Traffic Exchange conecepts.Definitely, it will not help you to get any sales but if you rotata your website in several traffic exchanges daily, it has an effect.Atleast, people will know that a website named such and such exists.

And you can join all traffic exchanges free of cost.so, join some exchanges first and work atleast 2 hours a day to rotate your website atleast 1000 times per day in their network.

Besides, you can upgrade also in these programs with a little money to get more exposure.But, remember don't expect sales.They will make your website a known name.

Apart from that, you can choose E-mail marketing.It is a very powerful approach to promote a new weebsite offewring some products/service ro sell.

You can place your website ads in FFA pages free of cost, do some banner advetising joining Banner Exchanges.If you can't effort a designer initially you can design your own banner from http://addesigner.com/. You can use some reputed PPC search engines. I wouls recommned google and yahoo.

You can write some thoughful articles related to your website and submit them to various articles submission sites which are mostly free of cost.

You can join many forums and take part as an active member and place your website link in your each post.

If all the above mentioned ways are done with proper style, your website is bound to develope a increase of traffic over a couple of months.

"Word Of Mouth" is not sufficient enough.

In this vast world of internet, how many people will listen from you?

Physical advertising can be done by other means such as newspaper ad, liftlet etc.

Word Of mouth can only make a rare percentage.

But, if you are successful network marketer with thousands of downline and other contacts then only it will work.

Default Word of mouth is good

I do believe that word of mouth is good.

But, is it possible to get 500 unique visitors daily to a new website only with word of mouth?

Especially for a new-bie in inetrnet who has not lots of conatct.

If there is any way can you expalin?

In this heated debate,I need to add my few cents.

Two points pecifically:

1."Word of mouth" is the BEST advertisement - true.But severly limited in scope.Eg:If you were trying to bring about a concept,aimed "locally",no amount of internet or any other advertising will help like WOM will.
But if you are targetting a world side audience,WOM is good but not the best.Internet would be the best,followed ofcourse by the papers.

2.May be in this discussion,WOM really refers to endorsements.

What do you mean? Do you mean only endorsement Word of Mouth? Because I thought by definition, you endorse something if you reccomend it or give it good press to someone else.

Or do you mean that we should only consider WOM as endorsement, because endorsements can also be very impersonal.

Basically, not all endorsements are WOM methods, but all WOM methods are endorsements.

I just want to infrom you that, endorsement is goos if the targeted people are wise.

Outline your action plans. To outline your action plans, you must have specific goals such as strengthening your relationship with your current clients and gain new clients. Develop ways to connect, deliver benefits and educate about the value of your company.

if you website is specifically on a topic, you can start a weekly e-zine and email it out to people who subscribe. If you sell trading cards, your trading card ezine can have collector tips etc.. The bulk of the ezine shouldnt be about your busines, but you can highlight anty specials you have.

If done right (and on a regular basis) this will establish you as a professional in your field and getting a weekly newsletter will reinforce your business name in your site visitors mind.

What some of these types of newsletters do is have only a brief portion of an article on the newsletter with a link to the website with the extended version. The internet is so competitive so whatver helps to raise you abouve your competitors is worth a shot

hey , I think we should just stick to marketing here only . Web marketing is effective and profitable. Don't let anybody convince you otherwise. Today thousands of companies and individuals from all over the world sell products or services via the Internet and make good money relatively easily. You can too.The difference between those that fail and those that succeed is simply this: The successful refused to give up and kept trying until they found what worked.
