Default Why so few people advertise in Yahoo compared to Google?

Hi there,

I'm going to launch a new website soon, and I need to advertise it,
an interesting question though, when I search for a certain keyword in Google, I see a lot of sponsored links popping up, but with the exact same keywords searched in Yahoo!, most of the times I see zero of very few sponsored links, why is that?

Last time I checked, Yahoo! still ranks number one in Alexa, and over at the inventory search, those keywords has been searched for hundreds of thousands of time in Yahoo! alone, but no sponsored links!

Am I a genius to have discovered these keywords
or is there something else about Yahoo! sponsored links that I should know before I advertise with them?

Any "guru" out there who can clarify this?

Sincerely,
Billie

Default Cause google ROCKS

Maybe the smart move is to go to yahoo with everyone going to google you might just be on to something there. Maybe you are gonna find that sponsored links will pop up as people get fed up with google...its just that google is sooo darn good its unbelievable...it is the standard as far as I am concerned when searching on the internet

I suggest you go with the google stuff you'll get more sponsors and just flow with the times man

later

Yahoo search has a minimum of 10 cents / click and google's is 1 cent/click so of course you'll see more advertisers. For example, for many keywords that are too general, you can't make a profit paying 10 cents/click so you pay google 1 cent/click.

Also, google is by far the largest search engine as compared to yahoo. Most search traffic is by google and yahoo's traffic is to their other services which are non-search related.

It's definetly the combination of smart ad pricing and a set full of features. Overture charges a minimum of 10 cents per ad, whilst Google has no such limit. However, the control you have over your ads in Google is far beyond anything Overture can offer you. The UI is better streamlined and easier to use. Add to that, the set of different tools (ROI, CTR, specific geo-targeting etc) to make your ads as cost-effective as possible, and the choice is no moot point for most advertisers.

Yahoo has a lot of catching up to do, be it its PPC engine or the Publisher's Ad Network.

Now , Google is #3 on alexa . behind MSN and Yahoo.

That will tell you more about Alexa then about these search engines.

but hey, another guy posted results form another resource, google is no 1 ya know,

alexa is only based on results form those who have alexa toolbar installed in their computers, so, i don't think they can be THAT accurate
