Default Yahoo! Publisher Ad Network vs Google Adsense

Hey y'all

I run a few websites now and I'm looking forward to include some advertisements on my website.

It's a music related site, and my traffic is pretty good too,

I know Google Adsense is hot at the moment but Yahoo! Publisher Ad Network seems to be very competitive too, anyone's got experience on both? How well do they match?

Which should I implement on my website?

I have no experience with Yahoo, unfortunately, but I still think Google would be a better bet. Yahoo will always be one step behind their rivals, so I think the original is always the best -- however much I may question Google's motives nowadays.

Summer,

Just like Eddie, I haven't used Yahoo Publisher Network. However, from what I can gather from other user experiences, it is safe to say that YPN has a lot of ground to cover before it gets on par with Google Adsense. The CPC is higher apprently (due to it being in BETA and having fewer advertisers) but their ad targeting is very low (it rarely matches your site content).

You can give it a try and see how it fares compared to Google Adsense. I guess it depends on your particular site and how much traffic you get.

I'd go for Yahoo, simply coz they're not infested yet, in the long run, you might make much more from it, just a theory, but you see, google is so popular already, who else is not on google, that means you've got tonnes of competition my friends!

besides these two, they are other companies offering these kind of affiliating/ppc opportunities you know, why's everyone joining the crowd when it got big, join a potential one when they're still small and grow with them, makes more sense, and makes more money!

Adsense is far more advanced in detecting what your page is about. The ads, in general are more relevant and you'll likely have a higher CTR than Yahoo.

While you can run more than one ad set per page with yahoo, the ads repeat, which also contributes to the lower CTR.

Yahoo has a much smaller advertising base than Google.
In many categories, they simply don't have relevant ads and if so, your CTR can be almost nothing.

Yahoo pays more per click than google generally- sometimes a lot more. You also have to remember your clicks are likely going to be less, so you have to factor that in.

The bottom line: It works fantastic on some pages, horrible on others.

Try it , maybe your sites will do great on YPN
