Yes, there is a lot of hype around in affiliate marketing but there are definetly people out there making a decent income promoting all sorts of affiliate programs. How do I know? I have promoted affiliate programs myself and I can definetly vouch for their potential.
I was only toying with the idea at the time to test the Google Adwords program. I went over to Clickbank and picked up an e-book about motor oil (note to self: that was a niche back then, not sure now). I put up an ad on Adwords and bingo! I was making, roughly, 2 sales for each 100 visitors. The only problem was that this e-book was really low-priced ($9.99) and my commission was only $5. I only managed to break even, but it taught me something about the affiliate world: it's about traffic, traffic traffic! Get enough traffic to your website and you could be making a tidy sum.
All in all, a great experience, albeit a non-profitable one. So, a resounding yes Llfjwr, affiliate programs can definetly make you a decent income online but you have a lot to learn first, and lot to wait first!
