Well, you want a "cost effective" compaign so cost is the other most important factor. You need to fine tune your keywords according to their cost, and then go for those that won't break the bank.
A keywords like "hosting" is going for over $5 for the top spot on Google Adwords. It's too generic and too expensive. You want something more targeted, like "uk dedicated hosting" or "london dedicated hosting". These keywords will probably be still too expensive for your budget, but you can still lower your bid and pull in targeted visitors.
Forget about top spot, all you need is to be listed on the first page (top 5 or 6). Your ad will still visible to most search engine users and you don't have to bid over-budget just to compete for that top spot.

There are other factors involved, like Ad copy and landing page. For these, you need to implement a good ad tracking script to fine-tune your ads even further to keep only those that result in higher visitor click ratios, and a higher ROI (return on investment).

Default Other SEO Factor

Another factor to consider is what words that you use. I have a friend that had his own personal web site and had an embedded page that he had the search engines search off of. He put words that he thought were amusing such as suicide, man, woman, accidents, and a variety of others and had the SEO level at about 8%. He had about 2 or 3 thousand hits per day by the end of the second month. The irony in this is that a magazine had used one of his entries on his site and he sued them and settled with them hiring him and his site is now defunct. It was monkeymofo.com.

Sometimes it isn't just the words that you use, but the content of the SEO words and also the words that you are willing to use. He attracted the type of people that were the punchline for his site and he paid off for it. It is all what you want your site to do for you.

Default Re: Elements of PPC

Though it is important to understand the ends and outs of the PPC world my advice is to start off simple and smart. Leave it to a professional, atleast until you feel comfortable managing your own campaign. The last thing you want to do is jeapordize your company and campaign by lack of knowledge. I learned this first hand. However, I decided to hire a PPC advertising management company before it was to late. I am currently working with ppcgeeks.net and so far I am very impressed.
