Hi there! I once read an article about Craiglist. You may find the answer on the article. You can see that on this site:http://nibot-lab.livejournal.com/46689.html

I want to say there was a special or little tidbit on tv about craigslist and how he started I want to say in San Franscisco to be able to provide employers with employees, people without dates to find dates, cab services and services in general.

Anyhow craigslist is not huge or fancy but is extremely effective in its manner and most importantly it is fullfilling a need to the masses all over the nation and probably soon in an area near you!!!

I really cant take craiglist seriously, due to its look. The navigation is all over the place. If someone cleaned it up a little perhaps. Its a shame, because im sure the info is actaully really effective it just needs to be re-planned a little better

Hello,

I think what Cloud9925 said was 100% right. As said:

Craigslist is fulfilling many people's requirement but it is right that it also needs a major overhaul specially about its look. Still its doing too good.

I hope you will agree with me. Thanks.

Jahrukh.

See thats the problem I never got that far into realising that because the site's links was not easy to navigate and I turned away. The ineternet is a highly comeptitive place and the truth is unless you capture someones interest and 'hook' them in in the first few seconds they are bound to leave.

I learnt this by studying the stat reports on my first few websites and
it was a huge learning curve, as I found because my websites weren't up to scratch people left within the first 30 seconds even though I had a vast amount of content.

Then I redesigned those sites (without adding any new content) and its traffic icreased immensly. Some site features, same content, smae meta tags and keywords, yet the site was constructed easy to navigate so people gave it a chance.

I'll admit as I am in the creative design industry the aesthetics of websites do rate highly for me, but its the navigation of a site that rates even higher.

Hello Everyone, i am just wondering the name of the website you are dsicussing about.

Is it Craigslist.org? If it is craigslist.org, then all of your points are worth valued.

Craigslist is an undoubted leader amongst advertising websites, but it really depicts a shabby look which is very clumsy too.

CL community should think about it & give it a more professional look.

Its basically an international classifieds site. From the number of posts it has on its site it seem to have high traffic and it is doing well. Could be doing alot better if someone redesigned the site for better navigation though

yeah, it certainly needs to be redesigned if it intends to continue growing it's list of visitors, else, someone else would just copy it, present it in a nicer way, and there goes craigslist.com,

don't you agree?
this phenomenon happens a lot online, and people are ever so good at making modifications so as to be free from legal issues heheh

confessions, i've done a lot of those "modifications" on web templates and sell it off as a designer :P

sue me hahahahhaha

while changing things for improvement might be good, i'm sure there is a solid reason for craiglist to be the way they are now, and changing things might either make their current users happier, or the other way round, so, they've gotta be really carful if they really want change things around

Thats a good point. I guess it would be a gamble if their current regular traffic are used to things the way they are. But in the long term a redesign would establish them more as professionals

Yeah, I also want a background on craigslist.com Lately, on GAF I've been seeing alot of jobs that involve posting ads on craigslist.com . Has anyone done this before? Is it hard? If it's not hard then I wouldn't mind learning how to post some ads on craigslist.com and make some money.

I'm pretty clueless too. If I had to get I'd guess that craigslist is something where you posts ads. Another thing that I've seen on GAF alot is adland pro or something like that. If you post the ads on there you also get paid. So if any of you do that, tell me, is it hard to posts ad? Can someone learn that quickly? I want to make some money

Firstly... It's craigslist.ORG. Not to be picky but if you choose to check out this site, it'll help if the URL is correct.

Craigslist is a national (USA) classified add site. While it looks cheesy, I've found and sold many useful things in the past.
I have found a "clone" of craigslist, kaboo.org. It looks identicle. Go figure...
The only difference is that Kaboo.org doesn't cover as many states as Craigslist.org.

Posting an add is soooooo easy. It's just like composing an email in hotmail or yahoo. You type your info in the form, upload a pic if you have one and submit! You have to confirm via a link that they send to your email addy and then your add is posted!

Piece of cake!
