If i have a link exchange with a site that has a lower ranking and that looks likely to remain lower than mine is there really any benefit to me

I think there is a lot of benefit there because you don't know if they are going to be the next huge thing or not and what would it hurt to have another link that is advertising your product or service?

The more the marrier I think.

However if they are a huge scam you should watch out for that because then they are not worth your time!!!

That would be the only thing that would stop me from linking with another site.

Hello, Montee. i think it is really a childish question.

You are well aware of link exchange i suppose as you are already exchanging links.

But, if the reciprocal site is not of high ranking presently it wil not make so much god for you as no traffic will come to your site.

Always try to exchange link with higher rankings website to get lots of traffic.

And please ask questions which have some potential.

If you keep asking just to increase your posts no(i suppose you are not doing that) then it is not a healthy discussion.

Keep writing and keep asking on tpocis that have some potentail.

While quantity of links is important, quality is even more important.
Some links are simply given more value than others by the search engine algorithms.
Links from pages thet are more relevant, in terms of topic and theme, are given more weight.
Also given more value are links that are labeled with more keyword rich anchor text, links from pages with higher Google PageRank, and links that originate within content pages.

Lower PageRank pages do not lower the receiving page’s PageRank. They enhance it, but to a leser extent. Over time, their available PageRank can increase.
The amount of green shown on the Google toolbar is not an accurate level of a page’s real PageRank. .
