Default Does e-mail marketing still work?

A popular way of marketing is via email. But, does this still work. Big e-mail providers try to beef up the spam guard everyday, so that it becomes more and more effective. For example, hotmail has a feature in which if your not on the e-mail list then it will go straight to the junk e-mail folder. So a large portion of the e-mails sent via e-mail marketing wont work anymore because it will go to the spam. So what do you think? Does e-mail marketing still work?

I've been thinking about the same thing. I, myself don't read marketing emails that they've been sending me. Most of the time i just delete them right away. But why are they still using the method? Does it actually work? Or is it i'm the minority that doesn't read such emails. I dont think so, but, am i?

What I wish is like if there was a stat that said how many people read marketing e-mails or something. In the past when emails were as advanced people probably read them. But with more and more spam these days, most of their e-mails are probably going straight to the spam folder, and not being read. Can't the businesses see if the email has been read or not? They should know this stuff.

if you're using outlook to send them, there's a little feature that will notify you whether the recipient has opened the email or not, but very few companies would want this, coz if you send out an email to 10,000 members, you'd get back 10,000 "email has been read" notifications!

who would want that right

Well, why wouldn't they want the software if it tells them how many people read the e-mail? For example, if a company sends out 1000 emails and only 20 of them get read, then they know that it isn't a succesful marketing strategy, and they also know who reads it. That way, they can send it to those 20 people, and instead of wasting time on the others, they can have a new marketing strategy.

I think it is one of the worst ideas . It is used by the company and the people to make only cash . what they do is just send emails to people and only 5 percent of them see it actually by chance . Alll they do is setup a timer and most of the people open these and close on the completion of timer . This guarantees a hit to the company and the advertisers and people hired to read get the money . So its just a waste of advertising dollars .

Yeah, I agree with you. I really don’t get why they do this because not many of us open the e-mails. And, even if one of us open the e-mails, that doesn’t guarantee that we want their product. Only a small percentage of everyone who opens the emails are actually going to be interested in the product or service.

These days it is looking more and more spammy , and the more they do it the people are compelled not to really sign up and also delete without even opening .But email marketing can be an affordable and increasingly targetable communications tool.Advertisers should not write off email advertising just yet.Email marketing is still a valuable part of the e-marketing mix, Consumers are attesting to the power of email marketing - they trust it, they respond to it, and they take proactive steps to ensure that they get messages from companies they do business with.
