Default Cyberlaw

You've already discovered that the Internet is a great medium for promoting your business. But just as you can use the Net's various components like the web, email, chat and newsgroups to network, to make new contacts and to generate leads, you can easily find yourself in hot water over legal disputes and legal challenges.

Doing business on the Net can be fraught with legal perils for those who act unthinkingly or unknowingly. In some situations, laws governing cyber activities are clearly defined and reflect the laws that govern our activities in the real world. In other cases, the Internet is still a "gray area", and laws will be established through the outcomes of court cases.

One important thing that you and I come face to face is law of ownership. The real ownership of a website is not clearly defined. This is a serious problem. All types of cheats launch web sites. When you go and find out the registered person is non-existant and all details furnished are false including telephone and other contacts. There must be clearly defined laws to indentify the person/s who register web sits.

Also one type of copyright infringement that we do see these days too frequently being used is the use of the pictures from other websites that are created by someone else . Whether it’s Youtube for videos or Flicker for photographs, the ever increasing demand for entertainment leads to the creation of more and more websites dedicates to displaying amateur “art” in the hopes of widespread popularity. ANd people stealing popular content is so common and with the huge amount of webpages it is difficult to nab all cheaters .
