Perfect competitor for e-bay?

Who do you think is the best competitor for e bay. there is rumours of google planning to startup their own auction site. Would like your feed back on this.

Yeah, this is something I want to ask too. There's really no answer. No one competes with Ebay, and they are winning. I do think that if Google starts one, they will think of something to top Ebay with, and will win it. Just like Google blew away all the other e-mails. Its supposed to be called "Gbay" or something like that, but I don't know much about it, someone fill me in with more information.

I think there are some attempts to compete only they failed miserably. Ebay is the pioneer, i guess. People trust them more coz they have been doing this the longest. That what makes it so hard to top. But i have faith in google too, if they even want to try. They'll blow ebay away!

Google can be a big threat to everything. They will always come up with some way to beat there competitors? How do they do it? I don't know. But if Google is thinking about competing with any company, then that company needs to be scared and needs to step it up. If I'm Ebay I'm gonna be pretty scared right now cause Google has a record of taking over everything, so if they take over Ebay, I wouldn't be surprised.

Well with ebay I do not think that any website can catch up hat fast easily even if it is google . now look at froogle , it did not pose any threat to ebay . Also the reason that ebay is so successful to be surpassed is that it works on an enormous platform , it is global in the sense that every major country has its own ebay website that works and is programmed specific to that country , for example in india we have ebay.in and the currency is also indian rupeess , probable no other website does that on the international level . also number of auctions and traffic to the website make it great .
