Default Am i the only one that thinks banners are overpriced?

Banners these days can be pretty costly. But lets face it, a good percentage of banner marketing doesn't even work anymore because of all the false banners that are out there. By false I mean the ones that say they will give you free stuff, but they don't. Yet, banners still can go for a hefty price. Am I the only one that thinks that banner marketing is over priced? I mean if its your OWN website then its ok, but your paying for someone else's website, especially if most of there banners aren't legit, then isn't banner marketing over priced??

well there, there is no definite way to measure whether it's overpriced or not, websites with high traffic definitely demands a higher price, and it usually is them who have higher percentages of drawing in new leads for your business

so, whether it's worth it or no, only you alone can justify I guess

Yeah, I guess your right. You can't say banners in general are overpriced, but you can say that banners for certain websites are overpriced. If a website that doesn't get that much traffic asks for lots of money for a banner ad, and then the ad doesn't produce the results it should, then I guess you can say its overpriced. What I really meant to say was banners just aren't as effective as they used to be.

Hmm..you got a point there. I can't recall when was the last time i clicked on a banner on the first place. They're not as effective and as popular as they were. I wonder why? Compare to pop-ups, banners are less annoying, but somehow i prefer google's ads. They're more reliable, i guess. Unlike banners, like you said, there are bunch of false banner out there.

Hmm, can you tell me a little more about googles ads? I can't really remember the last time I clicked on an ad because I have learned not to click on ads because most of them are fake and don't do me any good. But what makes googles ads better than the rest? I wonder if banners and ads will ever be effective as they once were.

When it comes to ads, i don't have preferances. I clicked on ads when it comes to looking for hotels and such. So far, most of them will direct me to the page that i want. Also, when it comes to looking for books. Maybe google ads have this simple trustworthy look, without all those flashy things going on. But then, that's just me.

That's true. Google ads are simple, and that might be getting the job done. I don't really click on any ads period, because whenever I use to I never got legit results. But I suppose the ads that try to be all flashy and catchy have less of a chance of being succesful, because people these days know that they're probably not legit.

Sometimes banners can be overpriced especially the ones that are bigger in size . You can go for smaller formats as theya re a cool way to advertise . Although click-through rates have gone down terribly, banner ad prices have also taken a huge dive. Few people are willing to buy banners and so people are a lot more willing to give you banner space for tokens. If you know what you're doing you can get massive traffic by using banners. You can also use them as a supplemental source of traffic. What you can achieve depends on your creativity, understanding, the niche you are and how much dollars you have to spend.

Yeah, but I just think banners in general aren't effective anymore. Most sites you go to have ads in banners, and we all know that those ads are fake. For example, the most popular one is 'free ringtones.' That ad is a straight up lie. When you put your number in, they begin to charge you. Actions liket his created by banner ads just make people trust banner ads less, which drives the cost down, and makes them less effective.
