How many are selling on the internet?

Very few people are actually selling things on the Internet and much of the talk about what a wonderful market the Internet provides is marketing hype. Is anyone making money?

One has gotten a lot to learn about the Internet. Do not think you can just put up a few Web pages and then start taking orders. You will also have to promote your Web site in newsgroups, mailing lists, online service forums, and so on. The odds are against you, so be prepared.

Selling online is a tough shot if you do not have a great product . Not everyone can do that. The first thing you should do before you even start building your site is go to a few of the big online retailers, like Amazon.com, Buy.com, and others to see what they are doing.Because those big companies spend millions of dollars a year on research to make sure that their sites are appealing and effective at selling online to the average Internet user. Now I do not mean that you shhould cheat that .You can benefit from their multi-million dollar research by studying what they all do and finding the common design techniques they all use and then applying those same techniques to your own site.
