Search engines pave the way for obtaining information over the Internet. For that reason links play a major role in whether or not your website receives the attention it
deserves. Link popularity has to do with the ranking order that the search engines attribute to your site. Keywords also play a role in this process.

Google leads the pack when it comes to search engines and most of the others look to Google for guidance. Search engines give the most prestigious rankings to sites that link to other sites that contain related subject matter.

yes, when it comes o search engines, google is my number one choice too, amazing how big they've become over the last 10-20 years, i still remember few years back when i ask a friend, you use google? what's that? hahahhaha

I think there are no real secrets to link popularity . One can go by the free way like link building , submission etc, to get to the top but it might take time and then there are SEOs who will do the task for you faster . One way of getting a one-way inbound link is by submitting your site to a web directory. This is however a method that requires an investment of time and energy but is highly useful if you submit your site to multiple directories. The downside is that if you are submitting to free directories they require a lot of time for the link to be visible but the if your business is permanent you need not be concerned about this and submit your site to the hundreds of directories out there.
