Starting your own affiliate program

It's cost effective because you only pay other sites for the visitors they link to you. You can pay for visitors or pay if the visit results in a sale.

Online businesses do best with online marketing. However, do not discount old media. Get a press release or article about your eBusiness in the local paper. Place an ad in the Yellow Pages or industry trade magazines.

BTW: If you are thinking of starting your own affiliate program, you should check out AffiliateBOT. It's far cheaper than linkshare and cj but gives you more juice in terms of affiliate management software.

Another way of advertising is through the radio, might be slightly costly, but the exposure that it's gonna generate for your site is huge!

Yeah the radio is pretty effective. I guess online ads and banners aren't really as effective anymore so it would be smarter to run an ad in the radio rather than that. Now that I think about it, the yellow pages and magazines are a good place to advertise, and they are also pretty effective.

Just wondering here. What about fliers? Can we advertise online businesses using fliers? Print it up and distribute it around the relevant areas, for example your website is targeting students, then you distribute the fliers around local colleges.

of coz you can, it's a great way to do it actually, but only if you're targetting that specific group of visitors ok, not the general crowd

Having your own affiliate program is like a boon where you have to just work on the initial development phase much only . Then you need to create and promote your own affiliate program, to get other people promoting your product for you.the first thing to understand is that promoting your affiliate program is completely different from advertising and selling your product.You cannot just sit back and hope that people who visit your site or even people whose names are on your responsive mailing list will automatically join your program.
