There are hundreds of thousands of people that are involved with affiliate programs and attempting to make money on the net. However, the problem is that most are only "attempting" and not actually succeeding with it. People expect to jump into affiliate programs and begin selling the product immediately with no knowledge. If you want to make money on the net with affiliate programs, you have to take the time to do it right.

The biggest problem people fall to with affiliate programs is knowledge of the program. How do you expect to sell a product if you can't even answer customers' basic questions? If you want to make money on the net with affiliate programs, the first step is to become an expert on the product. It is recommended that you purchase the product yourself to experience it first-hand.

I am not fully agree with your view. There is no need to know about what product you are selling. But it is most important that HOW you are selling & advertising your shopping site.

SO just concentrate on your shopping site.

No , I think an affilaite does need to know about the product that he is selling . If you have a website that you want to use to promote affiliate programs , you should go for related products as only they will gain you profits . An ad for flowers on a webmaster stuff related website won't be doing any good as will an ad for domain names or hosting . And if you are promoting with adwords or other paid advertising , you can see that some ads are not as convincing as others , this difference is made by the fact that how much knowledge you have about the product , for example a person completely clueless abou domains wont be able to make a catchy ad as domains or servers wont make meaning to him .
