As the power of the Internet spreads throughout the world, demographic and economic statistics are becoming more available. If you're working on market data for your own country, check with your local business development agencies, business schools, and industry trade associations for help in finding the information you need. These Web links might also help:

Web links for international economics: The American Economic Association offers a guide to resources for economists on the Internet, at http://rfe.wustl.edu/Data/World/index.html This site has a good list, with links, of which statistical data are available for different countries and world regions.

Statistical data locators: Nanyang Technology University’s library site, at http://www.ntu.edu.sg/library/ maintains another good collection of statistical and economic sources from different countries and regions.

The United Nations Statistics Division site, http://unstats.un.org/unsd/default.htm, contains another list of national data sources within different countries.

Local or international , the market research is a vital step in any of the businesses .A company active on any given market must ask itself who its customers are. Are they mostly young people, or perhaps elderly? Women or men? What would their income levels be? This is the demographic information that can be a starting point in creating a customer profile.Many businesses ignore the reasons why their customers choose one product or another. While we all know that impulse buying is a reality, most purchases are still made on reasons of benefits, value, satisfaction.
