Default How much web design should you know for a forum?

When opening a forum, you're supposed to have some general knowledge on web design, at least if you want it to look a certain way or something. So when you open a forum, are you supposed to have this web design knowledge or is it good hiring someone else. Hiring someone else obviously raises the cost, but it's best if you don't know much, right?

Prior knowledge to Web design, I believe, does not apply to everyone. In my case, I rely much on my own research work in order to discover much about everything in order for me to start up a forum. Hiring someone who have knowledge about Web design, that is if you intend to run a program about forum, is a good idea.

Well, you still should have a background of the knowledge especially if you are the one who is going to be doing the web design, right? I guess if the job requires LOTS of web designing then it isn't so bad to hire someone else, because that takes some of the work load off of you.

Hiring someone whose forte is web designing is the best last resort especially if one scarcely know about web design. However, in as much as possible, one has to learn a bit about web design. S/he can do some thorough reading about Web design so that s/he knows the best quality that a Web design must have.

There are those who hire for freelancers and they simply give the needed details to the service providers without guiding them of what must be done. I do personally prefer clients who have the background about what they are asking me to do, so that they could facilatate me toward the optimum achievement of a quality output. Joining brains or ideas is better than allowing the provider to work alone.
