Default Impersonation in Yahoo?

Yahoo is probably the largest online community with millions of users registered for multiple services such as Messenger, Mail or Yahoo Personal. No matter the service you use, Yahoo’s database is huge containing an enormous amount of details.

Because of the number of the accounts created by its users, Yahoo is receiving periodically complaints sent by different persons that sustain their usernames were stolen or somebody else is using their accounts.

The company tries to resolve every issue and to help the user but sometimes this is impossible because the user cannot prove he owns a specific account. To avoid these situations and to inform
you about the ways for resolving these issues, Yahoo wrote an entire chapter in its documentation.

“Yahoo! has many members worldwide, and due to the popularity of certain aliases, similar subscriber IDs are occasionally created. However, if you feel that someone is impersonating you, please cite specific examples where that person makes representations that he or she is actually you. With this information, we can investigate the situation further and take the appropriate action as determined by our Terms of Service,” Yahoo says.

“If that person is using Yahoo! Message Boards, please use our reporting form and also include examples of your posts on the board. When citing these examples, please make sure to include the name and/or URL of the message board, message board post number(s), and Yahoo! ID of the person you feel is harassing you,” the company said about the Yahoo Message Boards Service.

The giant portal also offered help for Yahoo Mail issues, allowing you to report incidents when you’re suspecting some for stealing your identity or misrepresenting himself or herself as you in an email sent via Yahoo! Mail. You are able to use an incident form that will require you information about contact methods and the abuse you want to report.
