Exclamation How to spot a scam

When someone offers you a “once in a lifetime ‘’ business opportunity its easy to get your hopes up and let your guard down, Here are some tips for exposing scam businesses.

Ask the company for documents about its lawsuit history. Most reputable businesses will provide them.

For a publicly traded company, you look at audited financial statement at www.sec.gov/edgarph .htm .Employ a trusted accountant, if necessary.

Do not get excited by testimonials. Ask the company to provide proof of typical earnings. Walk away if there is no information in writing.

Contact those invested in the business. The federal trade commission requires most promoters to give you the names and numbers of participants.

Check for complaints on internet message boards and at consumer-protection agencies.

A common way of scamming now is phishing. What it does is create a site that looks exactly the same as the previous site, except it's made on a PHP hosting website. So, basically, you won't know unless you check the link. What the website does is redirect you to the REAL website after you have entered your log in info. This is one of the most common ways that PayPal users get scammed.
