iPhone copycats... A NO to Apple

Apple, a company long revered in the tech world for being able to whip its followers into a frenzy with each new product announcement, is cracking the whip on those making the skins for Windows Mobile and Palm handheld devices.

Certainly Apple wants to make sure no one is stealing off its product or its ideas and has taken similar action before with folks who created iPod-like interfaces for use on smartphones.

In general, user experience is one of the core points of Apple's intellectual property. And obviously they want to protect it.

i wonder who is copying who when it comes to the iphone and the Prada + LG phone coz both features full touch screen ability

lg's got expandable memory card, iphone don't have that :P

Yeah I just read an article saying that the competitors for the iPhone don't think its going to be as big of a hit as it is being hyped about. It lacks many features, and half of the stuff they are crazy about isn't even new. It's just the fact that the iPod is in a phone. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft considered putting a Zune and phone together..

Although Apple's iPhone won't hit the stores for a few months, some eager fans already have smartphones that look exactly like the user interface CEO Steve Jobs showed the world last week. Apple is taking action against any firm producing iPhone "skins." The company sent a letter to one such firm, MoDaCo, claiming that the iPhone icons and screenshot are copyrighted by Apple.
