Sony Ericsson Settles for #4 Spot

Sony Ericsson falls behind on the world shipment of handsets and would have to settle for number 4 spot. Nokia still on the lead with 348 million units shipped in 2006. Motorola holds second spot with 217.4 million units shipped. Not trailing too far is Samsung on third post with nearly 6 million shipped units more than Sony Ericsson on the forth quarter of last year.

It was still a big gain for Sony Ericsson which outranked LG that previously held the number 4 spot last year.

Yeah LG didn't really have that good of a year. They came out with the hit phone 'chocolate' but I don't think it was as big of a hit as it was supposed to me. Motorola really had a good year. They came out with two really popular phones, the razr and the slivr. Nokia never really came out with a big hit, but they had many great phones overall.

sad, i thought sony ericsson is doing very well, came out, only number 4? sad...

In the top companies , it is always a up and down on the first five spots and consecutively om the nest fives and so on , there is always someone coming up etc , mainly because of the products etc .

I really expect Sony Ericsson to be on the top 3, because the popularity of Sony Ericsson's Walkman phones is evident on its versatile and robust audio capabilities.

More consumers are falling in love with Sony Ericsson's Walkman phones, outsell all other music phones including Motorola's much touted and publicized iTunes ROKR lineup.

Lately, here in my country many nokia users switched to Sony Ericson because of the walkman feature. I myself was been a nokia user but now a satisfied Sony Ericsson's W810i owner. I was been fascinated by its exceptional design and usability and the superb sound as well.

But here , nokia still rules and sony has to catch up a lot . But on the personal front , I think the sony cameras are far better in picture quality as compared to nokia , Nokia has one main advantag of the compatibilty of the many softwares that can run those phones and the range of things you can put in nokia is tremendous .
