Successful websites worth talking about You've heard about how small time players made it big and all on the Internet. Let's talk about websites like these and what we can learn from them. Warning, this is not the place for affiliate links, reciprocal links or site promotion messages. We'll delete them the moment we see it!

Default Johnny Broadband

Humungous database of Broadband sites for your delectation.
The cartoon guy with the biggest pecs in cyberland has more links than is strictly polite, and his 10,000-site database is an essential bookmark for any broadband user. Dial-up users should avoid it unless they want to weep like children whose mum won't let them have any sweets. Johnny's favourites: The Pathe News video archive (British Pathe Limited) led the Top Sites This Month column last time we looked, followed by interactive storybook www.alphazekko.com and Naked News ~ news sports entertainment games movies travel, 'the program with nothing to hide'. What we liked: Johnny has gathered, rated and categorised enough high-octane sites to earn a breezy lead in the broadband directory race. He's a man obsessed, even if he is just a toon. The homepage is well-stuffed, well-organised and based around a fast, efficient search facility whose results are limited to those sites that dazzle on a fast connection - no text-only dinosaurs allowed. We entered 'Matrix Reloaded' and received four broadband-friendly links, each rated with smiley faces and opening in separate windows to save us any back-button bother. If your browsing is less specific, explore the Top Searches list of categories like Science Fiction, Shockwave Games and Music Downloads. Gems include an online TV station from the American Deep South (www.strawberrytv.com), virtual sheep skulls from the Natural History Museum (www.nhm.ac.uk/museum/vr) and more than 1,000 streaming radio stations, from Jazz FM to alan partridge contest power rangers at alan-partridge.com. There's also a Hot Links A-list of usual broadband suspects like Hollywood.com : Your entertainment source for movies, movie times, movie reviews, celebrities, celebrity photos and celebrity news. and Download movies free videos downloads Streaming Movies classic tv shows cartoons music videos commercials mpegs video media downloads LikeTelevision, a Site of the Month, a comprehensive Broadband News section and links to broadband-relevant books at Amazon. What we didn't like: Great site, shame about the chat. A forum's only a forum if people contribute to it, and this one contained a mere 13 posts last time we visited. You may also be disappointed by the shortage of broadband news and information. Unlike our Silver and Bronze winners, Johnny's all about the links - and as a site directory he's way out in front. site to web hosting design at siteforsites.com
