Default Actually, Very Few People Have Internet

The United Nations News Center says that only about 13 percent of people on the planet have Internet access. At the meeting of Global Alliance on information technology for development, which took place in Silicon Valley, California, several high-tech companies talked on cutting the costs of Internet access. Cutting cost for Internet access might lead to information revolution, like the one that occurred when mobile phones appeared in developed countries.

Kind of shocked me, I thought many many people had the internet by now, but apparently it's only 13%.

Yes, you are right Astros99, one of the causes why only few people have internet access is poverty. Not all people in the world can affort to buy a computer machine. A computer machine is not yet considered as basic necessity to people who belongs in a lower group of society. For them, acquiring a computer machine is much for their daily expenses. They would rather spend for their common basic needs such as food and clothing than buu a personal computer. Another cause that I can consider is the illiteracy on computer technologies. The evolution of computer technology just emerged rapidly in the late 1980s, but to some countries only. Not all the countries in the world are motivated to computer technologies. With the highly increasing internet technology nowadays, people who are not computer literate will find it difficult to adapt. In effect, they will develop a kind of cyber phobia feeling and will belong to the group of people who don’t want to use nor hold a computer machine.

Yeah your right. Because of all the poverty in this world, only 13% of people have the internet. Even though for us the internet is a part of our everyday lives, the internet doesn't play a small factor in their lives at all.

Despite some predictions, internet usage is still rising- and often in unexpected categories. Older people and under-10's are currently serious growth sectors. This statement was made by the United Nations News Center. The majority of Internet users (90 %) live in industrialized countries. The gap in the field of information technology between the developed countries and those that are in development, is continuously increasing.
