Default Another crackdown for movie piracy

Salvador Nunez Jr., 27, has been accused of uploading the movie "Flushed Away" onto the Internet. He is facing up to three years in prison, if convicted of copyright infringement. He received the movie from his sister, who is an Oscar voter. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was tipped off about the movie being available on the Web. A digital watermark revealed that it was an Academy screener film. A copy of "Flushed Away" was found on his computer hard drive.

It just shows that although many people pirate movies, people still do get caught.

Nowadays, movie piracy is really a big headache for movie industries. In several parts of the world, movie pirated DVD can be sold at half the price or even lower as compared with the price of a movie ticket. Because of this, movie industries are losing up big amount of money. It’s really a burden for them seeing people to rather choose a pirated DVD or downloaded copy than that of paying it to watch in a cinema. Most of the pirated copies are well-burned and quality is as good as the original ones. Although, movie companies have requested for the implementation of copyright laws, still quality pirated copies are widely spread. I believe this is one global case that is hard to resolve.

Yeah I've always been hearing if you go to some of the countries you can get a bootlegged version of the movie for a really good price. So I bet many people will buy it, which takes alot of money away from the movie industry. They put alot of time and eddort into making the movie for our entertainment, but piracy doesn't give them the money back!
