Default New System to Filter Pirated Media

A company in California is currently developing a system that is to scan all uploaded videos. The system is to spott those videos that are under copyright law and decide whether the material has the right to be uploaded to the social network. The new filtering software was tested by downloading a two-minute video from YouTube. The video was then fed to the system and the program identified the video as a fighting scene from "Kill Bill: Vol. 2". The filtering software is still not ready since there are some ways of fooling it, like cropping the image.

This is great information for the movie industry; as this solution will definitely give way for their headaches on piracy issues. The software could be a great help for the movie industry as well as their workers. Keep us updated on this filtering software once released so we can inform our friends from the movie industry.

Yeah it will certainly be good for the movie industry cause there will be less piracy which means more money for them. But still, I think people will find their ways around it. Remember, this will only work if the website has this system. So popular sites like YouTube will use it probably. But, sites that are FOR piracy will probably not get this system.

With the new technologies of MP3 and the video compression formats (VCF), there is the potential to do extreme harm. But there is also the potential to do good. Of course the music and film industry will resist any change in their current system. In the current system, THEY control the distribution format. MP3 and VCF allow independent movie studios, and music artists without a label to release their works over the internet for free or at a low cost. Without the intervention of a label, the artist will receive much more profit. With the internet, there is a potential to reach millions of people worldwide.
