Default Chinese Officials to Bring Down Internet Piracy

The United States is concerned with the huge number of Chinese internet users who illegally download media files, thus violating the copyright law. The Chinese officials stated they have launched an effective fight against internet offenders. The new war on internet piracy in China includes fines, which has now reached 705,000 yuan ($91,000), and server confiscation. Some cases were even taken to court and people were convicted. Today there are around 843,000 websites in China. High prices and government restrictions are the main cause of active illegal downloads and the Chinese market is full of pirated copies of movies and music. China remains the world's second largest internet market with about 140 million web users.

Astro99, that is a good move for Chinese officials to prevent violation of copyright laws on media piracy. Chinese may not be aware that piracy are destroying their own industries. The impact of piracy on China's businesses greatly affects its internet market. China being the second largest online population in the world should make its own lucrative technology and brand names. China should watch over their status of being the world’s principal source of pirated movies and music, as well as imitation of designer brands and goods, which causes tremendous loss of potential revenues to original brand producers.

I recently read that China has the highest number of internet users. So, bringing down internet piracy for them will be really hard. There are millions of users on the internet, and if majority of them participate in piracy then it'll be really hard to take it down.

Piracy of disc-based entertainment is easy, profitable and serves a need, so it is popular to the point of being unstoppable; it exists all over the world and it has reached critical mass. It is so rampant and widespread that it would take more money and resources to enforce the prevention of pirated movies and music than the producers claim they are losing.

Just recently in a campaign against piracy, over 42 million pirated CDs and DVDs copies of publications, computer softwares, videos and albums were destroyed in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province.

The campaign arose after complaints filed by USA against Beijing in the WTO.

Till date, 30 million pirated discs and 12 million illegally published books and magazines have been destroyed across the country.

Copy protection of CDs is an expensive exercise in futility that will only create new enemies for the record labels and the RIAA. Any time the industry spends millions of dollars to develop a new scheme, crackers will break it for next to nothing. Soon, none of the discs from the mall will play in a computer, but the ones from the flea market or a street vendor will.

It is not only china where piracy is ther , it is in the whole south east asia majorly , but even the US is not untouched by it . It is a crime but to put it straight , no one really thinks like it is , plus the fact that it is one of the flipide of technology . The problem of piracy has arisen with the rapid advance of technology. New techniques of printing, recording and fixation of broadcast or recorded programmes have emerged, making it easy for the pirates to carry on their illegal activities.
