Default Hewlett-Packard Allegedly Spying on Dell

Karl Kamb Jr, the former vice president of business development and strategy at Hewlett-Packard, has said that HP chief executives instructed him to spy on Dell, HP's biggest market rival. Kamb Jr is accused by HP of stealing trade secrets.

This is a very humiliating accusation for HP. I don’t think that HP would be doing such thing. I’ve read an article that what HP is spying for is Dell’s plan to have printer product lines. I’m pretty sure that HP is quite confident when it comes to their printer industry as they have been the widely used printer brand by large scaled companies as well as monopolizing them. Karl Kamb was a former vice president of HP, maybe there’s a hatred feeling within him for HP, which maybe the reason for him to accuse HP in this manner. I don’t think he’s a reliable source for such allegations.

Yeah I alwayst thought that HP was better than Dell in my opinion. So I wouldn't really think that they would spy on Dell, cause there already better in the first place. I haven't looked at sales records or charts, but I am certain that HP is doing better than Dell in terms of sales.

Also includd are the following allegations
Kamb, who has denied any wrongdoing, filed a countersuit in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Friday, according to legal documents. Among Kamb's allegations:• That in 2002, HP hired Katsumi Iizuka, a president of Dell Japan until 1995, to supply information on Dell's plans to enter the printer business.
• That "senior HP management" signed off on the payments to Iizuka.
• That HP obtained Kamb's private phone records through pretexting, the practice of seeking information by masquerading as someone else. Among the defendants in Kamb's suit are former HP Chairman Patricia Dunn and former HP attorney Kevin Hunsaker.
